The first step in the production of aluminum is to refine collected bauxite ore through a process that produces an aluminum oxide-containing compound.
The second and final stage involves smelting this material, releasing pure pressed precious metal as the reward.
It takes 4 to 5 tones of bauxite ore to produce 2 tones of alumina.
And it takes approximately 2 tones of alumina to produce 1 tone of aluminum.
The aluminum mining industry is one that spans all continents. China and Australia are at the top of production, but Al Mining occurs everywhere from Latin America to sub-Saharan Africa!
World aluminum production is expected to have reached a high point in 2020, with 65.3 million tonnes produced worldwide and China leading the way at 37 Million MTs followed by India Russia Canada.
The country of Australia has been leading the world when it comes to producing bauxite, which is a type of ore necessary for making aluminum. One-third of every six tons produced anywhere on this planet come from Australia!
No bauxite is mined in Canada, however, Canada is a country with 10 aluminum smelters, one located in Kitimat and the other nine are all found within Quebec.
